Things To Do In Acapulco, Mexico

By Orson Johnson

Like someone once said, even those who have no idea where Acapulco is have at least heard the name mentioned once before. Acapulco, a major sea port, is one of the most popular tourist cities and known as Mexico’s original and first resort. More then just a ‘pretty-face” city, Acapulco is filled with things to do whether rain or shine.

As Acapulco is first and foremost a waterfront city, its no surprise that majority of main activities happen along the beach. One of the most popular beaches in Acapulco would be Playa Condesa, where locals and tourists alike gather for some good fun under the sun. See the latest swimsuits on display, go jet skiing or just relax as the waves crash onto the shoreline. And if you get a sudden urge to have a cocktail while you’re on the beach, head for the many cars scattered all across or even for the restaurants nearby if you’re hungry.

Another famous oceanic landmark of Acapulco that’s world renown would be the Calle La Quebrada. These beautiful cliffs give a magical sight to behold but the number one thing that attracts hundreds of visitors daily would be the Cliff Divers. Be entertained and watch the grace of the divers as they jump of the highest peaks into the dangerous waters and rocks below. Go early if you want to get a good view or rent a boat and get an even better view of this death defying feat. Make sure to visit it at night as well, where these cliff divers jump off with lighted torches into the sea.

Other beach and water activities include snorkeling and scuba-diving trips, fishing and even swimming one on one with the dolphins at Delfines Paradise. However, there are things to do away from the waters as well. Visit Fuerte de San Diego history museum, a great place to learn about the history of the state of Guerrero. In the heart of Acapulco you’ll find the Zocalo, the main plaza with beautiful buildings and good restaurants.

If you’re traveling as a family and the kids start to get restless, take them to Amazing World, a children’s amusement park located at Costera Miguel Aleman. The good thing about this amusement center is that the parents can play right alongside with their children, catering toward everyone, just like Acapulco does on a whole.

Hot Tips For Traveling in South East Asia

By Alex Aziz

Thailand

Traveling through Thailand is a great experience, public transport is great and roads are in excellent condition. A great way to see some of the countryside is to rent a motorbike. When renting a motorbike be sure to check it out thoroughly, this is easy enough to say but important points like does the odometer or fuel gauge work can come in handy later on in the trip, especially if traveling long distances. The motorbikes in Asia are built a little differently with two brakes a hand brake (front wheel) and the other a foot brake (back wheel). Try to use only the foot brake when traveling fast as using the hand brake will send you flying over the wheel as it only applies pressure to the front wheel. Another common mistake is when going uphill, shifting down gears while still on the gas, this tends to result in a front wheelie and more often than not an accident.

Venice, Italy - Romance Or Ruin

By Kris Shebel

This was my first time across the pond, so to speak. When taking the train into Italy from Munich, Germany, I noticed how the landscape had changed, from urban sprawl, to towering jagged mountains, to soft rolling hillsides. In Italy, the land seemed lush, and the buildings were…well….lets just say…well loved. Well loved is a maternal term. Mothers use it to describe their children’s preferred toy, favorite pair of jeans, beloved blanket, etc. The child’s favorite item was once a picture of perfection, beautiful and clean, and now, it looks like something you would fetch out of the garbage. But in your child’s eye it’s as beautiful as the day they received it. That sums Venice up for me.
